Tesla Gen 2 80A Charging: Which Vehicles Can Use the Full Power?
How fast can your Tesla really charge?

80A describes the Wall Connector, not the vehicle
At 240V, 80A corresponds to 19.2 kW of AC power. The Wall Connector can offer that maximum when configured on a properly sized 100A branch circuit. A vehicle with a lower onboard AC charger rating will draw less power even if the station can deliver more.
Why many newer Teslas charge at 48A or 32A
Many Tesla Model 3 and Model Y configurations support 48A or 32A AC charging, depending on the vehicle version. Older Model S and Model X vehicles equipped with high-capacity onboard charging hardware can, in appropriate configurations, accept higher AC current. Always check the exact vehicle model, year and onboard charger, rather than assuming a Tesla connector guarantees 80A.
When is a high-power Wall Connector useful at a hotel?
High-output charging can matter for legacy Tesla vehicles equipped to accept it, but overnight hotel charging often prioritizes number of usable stalls, consistent access and circuit capacity. A site should plan charging around its guest turnover and the available electrical budget.
Installer-adjustable current makes Gen 2 flexible
The Tesla Gen 2 Wall Connector supports lower current settings for appropriate smaller circuits. Tesla's published examples include 80A output on a 100A breaker, 40A on a 50A breaker and 32A on a 40A breaker. These are equipment-setting examples; a qualified electrician still has to confirm circuit design, wiring and safe installation.
Wired power sharing for groups of up to four
Compatible Gen 2 Wall Connectors can share a configured current limit through wired group management. A leader communicates with up to three followers. This is valuable in commercial parking where multiple guest stalls share a defined electrical budget.

80A replacement for an existing Destination Charging site
If a compatible Gen 2 charger fails, Primecom.Tech offers new Gen 2 80A replacement Wall Connectors in 8.5-foot and 24-foot cable options. The electrician must verify the replacement rating, existing branch circuit and any wired power-sharing group before installation.
