Tesla Gen 2 Wall Connector Power Sharing and Adjustable Amperage for Hotels
Four Gen 2 chargers can share available power.

Adjustable amperage: the 80A rating is the maximum, not the only setting
On a circuit sized and configured for full output, the Gen 2 Wall Connector can supply up to 80A AC at 240V, or 19.2 kW. Tesla's published table provides lower settings for smaller properly designed circuits: for example, a 50A breaker corresponds to 40A maximum charger output, a 40A breaker to 32A, and a 30A breaker to 24A. The qualified installer must configure the unit and verify the supply, wiring, breaker and code requirements.
Reducing the setting cannot make an unsafe existing branch circuit safe, nor can it establish a voltage rating that is not printed on the unit.
Group power management: one leader, up to three followers
Gen 2 can link up to four compatible Wall Connectors through wired communication. One acts as the leader and up to three as followers. The group allocates its configured available charging current among cars as they connect and disconnect. This can be helpful where a hotel has several charging bays but a limited electrical budget.
Gen 2 wired power sharing is not the same as Gen 3 wireless power sharing. Don't assume a newer Wall Connector can join an existing Gen 2 group without changing the system design.
What if one charger in a group stops working?
First, isolate the fault using qualified service personnel. If replacement is appropriate and the failed unit is a compatible Gen 2 model, the site may be able to retain its current charging bay, branch circuit and wired communication group. The electrician must verify the replacement's rating and role, reconnect communication, restore the group current configuration and test charging at multiple stalls.
Is the 80A current available to every Tesla?
No. EVSE output current and vehicle onboard AC charging acceptance are separate limits. Many Tesla cars accept 48A or 32A maximum even when connected to an 80A-capable Wall Connector. On-site electrical conditions and configured output may further reduce the available rate.
Can this charger be used on 277V?
Primecom.Tech's current Gen 2 inventory packaging is marked 277V single-phase. Tesla's general Gen 2 support page lists 208–250V, illustrating why model and revision verification matters. An electrician must check the actual unit nameplate and properly connect a supported 277V phase-to-neutral supply—never 480V line-to-line. For more detail, see our 277V hotel charging guide.
Where to buy a replacement
For a known compatible Gen 2 installation, Primecom.Tech offers Tesla Gen 2 80A replacement Wall Connectors in 8.5-foot and 24-foot cable lengths. For new hotel or casino equipment planning, visit our commercial hospitality charging page and request a consultation.
